About Colorado Veterans Action

Fighting for Those Who Fought for Us

Colorado Veterans Action is a grassroots, veteran-led campaign working to pass a 2026 ballot initiative that will provide full property tax exemption for Colorado’s 100% service-disabled veterans, surviving spouses, and Gold Star families.

Our mission is simple:
Honor service with lasting relief.
For too long, our disabled veterans have been burdened by outdated legislation that only offers partial tax relief. With housing costs soaring and 18+ states already offering full exemptions, it’s time for Colorado to stand up and do the right thing.

Our Goal: A Stronger, Fairer Colorado

Since 2000, the state has provided only a 50% property tax exemption on the first $200,000 of home value—a figure that’s no longer aligned with today’s economic reality. Most homes now exceed $500,000, and that outdated law isn’t doing enough.

We believe 100% service-disabled veterans deserve 100% tax relief. No more half-measures. No more delays.

What We’re Doing

  • Launching a statewide awareness campaign

  • Collecting signatures to get on the November 2026 ballot

  • Rallying communities, veterans, and civic leaders

  • Building momentum online and in local media

  • Providing transparency and education about what this law will do

We’ve already begun assembling a coalition of supporters from every corner of Colorado—and beyond—including veteran groups, local businesses, and concerned citizens.

Who We Are

My name is Curtis Link

Curtis Link, a veteran and advocate, launched this initiative after years of witnessing how broken systems continue to burden those who’ve already given so much.

Together, they’ve built Colorado Veterans Action to give this measure the attention, respect, and energy it deserves.

States That Fully Exempt Property Taxes for 100% Disabled Veterans

As of 2025, 20 U.S. states already offer full property tax exemptions for veterans with a 100% permanent and total (P&T) disability. These policies reflect a commitment to honoring those who have given so much. It’s time for Colorado to join them.

How Colorado Compares

Currently, Colorado only offers:

  • 50% exemption on the first $200,000 of a home's value

  • Enacted in 2000, when home values were significantly lower

  • Our veterans deserve more than partial support—they deserve parity with heroes across the country.

  • Full exemptions reduce housing insecurity for disabled veterans and their families.

  • Modernizing this law is about respect, relief, and recognition.

With today’s median home prices over $500,000, this benefit is no longer adequate
